Charles and Paula Rohrbacher

Iconographer Charles Rohrbacher and his wife Paula are the newest members of the Juneau Artists Gallery. Charles recently completed the beautiful icon artwork in the book, Illuminated Easter Proclamation, just released by the Liturgical Press.

Charles is a Roman Catholic deacon of the Diocese of Juneau. He studied Byzantine iconography with Russian Orthodox iconographer Dmitri Shkolnik in San Francisco and New York. He further studied with Fr. Egon Sendler, a Byzantine Catholic Jesuit, in Paris. Paula creates portable icon shrines using Charle’s work, and also manages the business side of his studio, the New Jerusalem Workshop.
