Cathy Parmelee
Catherine Parmelee has lived in Alaska since 1981. She moved from Fairbanks to Juneau in 1991. She is married to Nathan Parmelee and has three children.
Catherine has always had a hunger to create art, and in 2007 she decided it was now or never. The former freelance writer started making collage art and quickly moved into the mixed-media arena.
At this time she mostly works with acrylics and collage, among other things, but she’s always craving a challenge and plans to grow and stretch into encompassing a wider range of mediums into her pieces. She especially enjoys layering, which adds physical dimension and surprises to her work.
Catherine enjoys the quirky and humorous side of life, and she brings this whimsical touch to many of her creations. She is drawn to texture, design, bright colors, and fun faces, as well as an occasional raven or two or three or....
She started selling her work downtown Juneau in 2008. Catherine has also been the featured artist in two First Friday events, as well as in the local Gallery Walk. In addition, her work has been published in Somerset Studio’s Artful Blogging magazine, as well as two issues of Art Trader magazine. Furthermore, she is very involved in online artists’ sites where she interacts with other artists from all over the globe. |
